On July 25, the press conference for the 2024 China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS) 6th "Air Silk Road" International Forum was held in Chongqing. As a key brand forum in the fields of aviation and the Belt and Road Initiative under the CIFTIS, and the only international offline aviation forum continuously held in Beijing during the COVID-19 pandemic, the 6th "Air Silk Road" International Forum (ASRIF) will take place from September 26 to 27 in Chongqing. This year's forum will adopt a "1+N+1" format, consisting of one main forum, multiple parallel forums, and the "Air Silk Road Chongqing Night 2024" event.
The Decision approved at the 20th Central Committee's Third Plenary Session states: "Optimize regional opening-up strategies and improve mechanisms for high-quality joint construction of the Belt and Road Initiative," which sends a clear signal regarding China’s commitment to expanding high-level openness to the outside world.
Building on the achievements and frameworks of previous conferences, the 6th ASRIF will focus on the theme of "High-Quality Construction of the Air Silk Road and Upgrading the Western Land-Sea New Corridor." The forum will invite over 300 guests from international organizations, foreign dignitaries, diplomatic missions in China, national ministries, major domestic and international airlines, large hub airports, airport economic zones, financial institutions, industry organizations, universities, and research institutions. Participants will engage in discussions on topics such as openness, cooperation, intelligence, sustainability, and low-altitude economy, contributing ideas and recommendations for the high-quality development of the "Air Silk Road" in this new era.
The forum is jointly hosted by the Air Silk Road International Cooperation Alliance (ASRICA), the China Association of Port-of-Entry, Finance Center for South-South Cooperation, and Hainan Airlines Group, with support from organizations like Chongqing Airport Group and Chongqing Airport Economic Development Company. The Beijing International Aerotropolis Technology Research Institute will be responsible for organizing the event. Before the press conference, the ASRIF organizing committee reviewed various agenda items and confirmed key details, including the composition of the organizing committee, meeting time, location, scale of participants, and service guarantees.
According to Ma Jian, the Deputy Director and Secretary-General of ASRIF, the Air Silk Road International Forum (ASRIF) has successfully held five sessions in Beijing from 2019 to 2023. This year, the forum will be hosted in Chongqing, marking the first time that a key industry forum under the China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS) will take place outside of Beijing.
The conference will delve into hot topics such as the collaborative development of the "Air Silk Road" and the Western Land-Sea New Corridor, international cooperation in the aviation industry, aviation carbon reduction and intelligent civil aviation construction, as well as low-altitude economy and urban air traffic. During the event, several projects and outcomes will be launched and released, including:
"Excellent Service Demonstration Cases for the Air Silk Road 2024"
"China Airport Economic Development Index 2024"
"Chongqing Initiative for International Cooperation on the Air Silk Road"
"Air Silk Road Brand Going Global Plan"
In addition to these presentations, the forum will feature a series of concurrent activities such as:
Ambassadors and Ministers Roundtable Dialogue
Zero Carbon Airport and Park Global Forum with 30 Experts
National Low-altitude Economy Industry-Education Integration Development Forum
Third China Airport Economic Development Seminar
Chongqing (Yubei) Airport Industrial Development Symposium
Air Silk Road Chongqing Night 2024
These activities aim to actively build an international communication platform for the "Air Silk Road," stimulate new momentum, and empower the high-quality development of the Air Silk Road initiative.
During the press conference, representatives from the organizing and co-organizing entities provided insights into their preparations for this year’s summit. Liu Qianqian, Deputy Director-General of the South-South Cooperation Financial Center; Gao Jian, Secretary of the Party Committee of Hainan Airlines Group; and Wu Bo, Deputy General Manager of Chongqing Airport Group, each shared details regarding their respective organizations' involvement.
The forum will be broadcast globally via various online platforms, including the official websites of the China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS) and ASRIF, offering both graphical and video live coverage.
To ensure the smooth execution of the event, the organizing committee will establish several specialized task forces focused on aspects such as publicity, reception, security, and fire safety. These task forces are designed to provide comprehensive support for the organization and implementation of the conference.
